Objetives and Functions of the Embassy

The main objective of the Chilean Mission in Australia is to establish and develop a multidimensional relation, which has as its pillars: the enforcement of Free Trade Agreement from January 1, 2009; the consolidation of strategic alliances in areas of common interest and the agreement in policies in the main international fora.

The diverse functions, whether in the implementation or in the execution of the great lines of our bilateral relations are defined and articulated from the Embassy, using mainly, the Career Consulates in Sydney, Melbourne, Canberra, the Honorary ones in Brisbane, Perth and Tasmania, The Trade Commissioner's Office in Sydney and the Attaché Defense Office located in Canberra. Among its allocated tasks are the promotion of Chile in its political, economic-commercial, cultural and educational fields; the promotion and negotiations of agreements; the widening of a network of contacts, the preparation and implementation of official visit programs concerning official representatives as well as support to those related to the private sector, and the support of the community of Chilean residents in Australia..
