As part of his visit to China, Deputy Foreign Minister Fernando Schmidt attended the launch ceremony of the books “From the Andes to the Great Wall: 40 years of Chile-China relations” and “Chile and China: Forty years of Foreign Policy.”

The book “From the Andes to the Great Wall: Forty Years of Chile-China relations” was launched at the premises of the Cervantes Institute in Beijing. At the ceremony Undersecretary Schmidt participated as a panelist along with the book’s author, Cristián Troncoso.

After the panelists made their presentations there was a round of questions from the audience, who made questions about the prospects  and challenges of the bilateral relationship and made remarks regarding  the global situation of international financial markets.

Undersecretary Schmidt also led the launching ceremony of the book “Chile and China:  Forty Years of Foreign Policy,” which took place at the Chilean Embassy in China.

The book was a joint initiative put forward by the School of Government of Universidad del Desarrollo and the China Institute of Contemporary International Relations (CICIR) to commemorate the anniversary of bilateral ties between the two countries dating back to December 15, 1970.

The ceremony was also attended by the book’s editor, Yun Tso Lee, and the President of CICIR, Yuang Peng.
