Chile and Chilean business believe in sustainable development and strive to strike a proper balance between growth, social responsibility, and the need for environmental and natural resource conservation. Chilean exporters believe in and are fully certified under international environmental and quality standards.
As an active trading nation, Chile was an early adopter of key international standards such as good agricultural and manufacturing practices, product traceability, HACCP, and corporate social responsibility. These procedures and standards help guarantee healthy, safe products and a commitment to worker safety, stakeholder rights and environmental protection.
Recognizing that investing in the environment makes business sense and is the right thing to do, Chilean businesses have become leading players in the Clean Development Mechanism established under the Kyoto Protocol.
