Obtainment of Simple or Multiple Tourist Visa for foreign-born citizens

What does it consist in?

It is the granting of a Visa for foreign-born citizens who wish to visit Chile with recreational or the like purposes.

Citizens from countries maintaining an exemption of Tourist Visa regime with Chile are exempted.

Where can it be requested?

  • At the Consulates of Chile overseas.
  • At the Immigration Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, after processing the data from the applicant.

Who is it addressed to?

To tourists, that is to say, the foreign-born citizens entering the country for recreational, sport, health, study, business, family, religious or other similar purposes, with no intention of immigration, permanent residency or performing remunerated activities.

Requirements

  • Valid Passport or identity document until the end of the stay.
  • To accredit economic solvency allowing to travel and finance the stay.
  • Invitation letter of a natural person or body corporate in Chile.
  • Hotel reservations if not having a contact person in Chile.

Result

Issue Simple or Multiple Entry Tourist Visa.

Obtainment of a Subject to Contract Visa for foreign-born nationals

What does it consist in?

Issuing of a Subject to Work Contract Visa for foreign–born citizens who have been hired by a company with residency in Chile, has a maximum of two years. It also exists the Dependent Residence Subject to Contract Visa, granted to the relatives of the holder, with a similar extension, that does not allow to work. The cost of the procedure is based on reciprocity.

Where can it be requested?

  • At the Consulates of Chile overseas.
  • At the Immigration Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, after processing the data from the applicant.

Who is it addressed to?

To foreign-born citizens who have been hired by a company located in Chile.

Requirements

  • Letter from the employer addressed to the Consul justifying the hiring.
  • Work contract (notarized, legalized and translated, if applicable).
  • Professional degree (if necessary).
  • Background Checking.
  • Medical Certificate.
  • Valid Passport.
  • 4 passport-sized photos.

Requirements demanded from the hiring company:

  • Incorporation in Chile.
  • Legal address in Chile.
  • That the activity performed by the hired person is essential for the development of the country.

About the Work Contract

The contract must be drawn up pursuant to Chilean legal regulations and contain the following clauses:

  • Obligation of the employer to fulfill the payment of the income tax in relation to the paid remuneration.
  • Obligation of the employer of the payment of deduction to the contingency and health system of the worker in Chile or overseas.
  • Obligation to pay return tickets at the end of the work contract for the person under contract and its family group.

Visas for artist who enter the country to work for less than 90 days

Requirements

  • Having a manager or artistic producer.
  • Application for a Tourist Visa at the corresponding Chilean Consulate, when there is not a Tourist Visa exemption agreement.
  • Accrediting itself as an artist.
  • The agent or artistic producer must request a work permit before the Foreign Legalization Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, website: www.extranjería.gov.cl

Obtainment of a Temporary Residence Visa

Obtainment of a Residence Visa

What does it consist in?

The obtainment of a Temporary Residence Visa for foreign-born citizens who travel with the purpose of settling down in Chile, due to having family bonds, interest in the country or whose residency is useful and favorable to Chile. This visa allows to work, to study and / or to perform commercial activities, within a maximum of one year. There is also a Dependent Temporary Residence Visa, which is granted to the holder's family and does not allow to work, and it has an extension of one year.

Where can it be requested?

  • At the Consulates of Chile overseas.
  • At the Immigration Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, after processing the data from the applicant.

Who is it addressed to?

To foreign-born citizens, parents, bridegrooms and children of residents.

Requirements

  • Letter addressed to the Consul, pointing out the reasons for the settlement.
  • Background Checking.
  • Medical Certificate.
  • Valid Passport.
  • 4 passport-sized photos.
  • Certificate of kinship, in the case of a relative.
  • If the applicant travels to perform internship, must have the commitment of its parents or legal guardian for economic backing.

Issuing of a Temporary Resident Visa.

When the foreign-born citizen is an investor, it must submit the following:

  • Investment project.
  • Capital related to the investment.
  • To accredit the origin of capital to be invested.
  • To confirm the veracity of the investment in relation to the incorporation in Chile.
  • The activity to be performed must be profitable.
  • To point out the workforce and the remuneration to be paid to the workers.

Obtainment of a Student Resident Visa for foreign-born citizens.

What does it consist in?

It is granted to the foreign-born citizens who travel to Chile with the purpose of carrying out studies as a regular student at State academic institutions or private ones recognized by the State, for a maximum of a year, and in the case of scholarship holders for the length of the sponsorship.

Where can it be requested?

  • At the Consulates of Chile overseas.
  • At the Immigration Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, after processing the data from the applicant.

Who is it addressed to?

Foreign-born citizens who travel to Chile with the purpose of carrying out studies as regular students.

Requirements

  • Certificate of Enrollment or Letter of Acceptance issued by a university or educational institution recognized by the State.
  • To accredit before the Consul economic solvency that allows subsistence during the period of studies.
  • Background Checking.
  • Medical Certificate.
  • Passport.
  • 4 passport-sized photos.

Special agreements concerning visas

'WORK AND HOLIDAY' CHILE /AUSTRALIA

Agreement signed between Chile and Australia that allows young Chilean and Australian students and professionals of a maximum of 31 years of age, to travel to the other country on holiday with the possibility of studying and working for a period not longer than a year.

Requirements

For interested persons in Chile, to request a support letter from the Chilean government at the Immigration Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs a support letter to apply for the 'Work and Holiday Visa', having to submit an original and photocopy of :

  • Valid passport (photocopy only of the page of identity).
  • Birth Certificate.
  • Background Checking.
  • Sworn Statement of not having any dependant children before a Chilean Notary Public.
  • Professional University Degree or from a higher technical institution recognized by the Ministry of Education, or a Certificate of the academic institution accrediting at least two years of study completed and approved.
  • Basic knowledge of English.

'WORK AND HOLIDAY' CHILE / NEW ZEALAND

Agreement signed between Chile and New Zealand that allows young students and professionals from both countries of a maximum of 30 years of age, to travel to the other country on holiday with the possibility of studying and working for a period not longer than a year.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Valid passport (photocopy only of the page of identity).
  • Birth Certificate.
  • Background Checking.
  • Sworn Statement of not having any dependant children before a Chilean Notary Public.
  • Professional University Degree or from a higher technical institution recognized by the Ministry of Education, or a Certificate of the academic institution accrediting at least two years of study completed and approved.
  • Basic knowledge of English.
