Issuance of Certificate of Contributions for Chilean nationals living abroad.

What does it consist in?

It is the application made by a Chilean national who requires information on the current state of his/her contributions made in any of the former Social Welfare Funds, currently merged into the IPS (Social Security Institute). The Contributions Certificate is an official document issued according to the IPS records, which certifies the contribution periods made by the contributor into the former Chilean Pension System.

Where can it be requested?

At the Consulates of Chile.

Requirements

  • Full name (names and last names)
  • Chilean Identity Card (Rut No.)
  • Name of father and mother
  • Place and date of birth
  • Name of the former Social Welfare Fund(s), where he/she made the contributions
  • Name of employers and contribution periods with each of them (if remembered)
  • Registration number in the former Social Welfare Fund (if having one)
  • If the applicant has one of the cards recording contributions, he/she should make it available (in original) through the Consulate to the Social Welfare Department for its redemption to the IPS.

Who can apply for this benefit?

Chilean nationals living abroad who have made contributions exclusively in one of the former Social Welfare Funds of the former Chilean Pension System, currently merged into the IPS.

IMPORTANT

Chilean nationals applying for this procedure at the Consulates-General of Chile in Buenos Aires, Mendoza and Neuquen (Argentina); Caracas and Puerto Ordaz (Venezuela), will be able to obtain the Certificate of Contributions online from these Consulates through the IPS Core Agile System, which allows obtaining such document instantly (Provided that the Certificate is loaded and available on the system, otherwise, it may be requested to the IPS in Chile through the consulate).

Some of the ex-Funds of the former Chilean Pension System are the following: EMPART (Private Employees Social Service); CANAEMPU (National Fund for Public Workers), National Fund for Public Employees and Journalists, ex – SSS (Social Security Service), Equestrian Fund (National Horse Racing Social Security Fund), Banking Fund, Railways Retirement and Social Welfare Fund, etc.

Observations

The aforementioned service is provided under the Cooperation Agreement signed in 2003 between the IPS and the Directorate General for Consular Affairs and Immigration of the Foreign Ministry.
