Application for Widowhood Pension
What does it consist in?
It is the processing of an application for Widowhood Pension carried out by the widow/widower of an ex- contributor or pensioner of any of the former Social Welfare Funds currently merged into the IPS.
Where can it be requested?
At the Consulates of Chile.
Requirements
- Single Application for Pension Benefits
- Chilean Death Certificate
- Birth Certificate of both the pensioner and the widow / widower
- Marriage Certificate issued at a later date to the originator's death by the Civil Registry
- Photocopy of Identity Card of both spouses, duly legalized by the Consulate
- Photocopy of Payments in Full of the pension or Certificate of Contributions
- File Card of the Benefit Remittance
- Banking Certificate of the applicant's account (indicating the following: bank name, bank address, branch, type and account number, transfer SWIFT code)
Who can apply for this benefit?
The surviving spouse of a deceased contributor or pensioner, living abroad and who meets the requirements according to the former Social Welfare Fund to which he/she was affiliated.

IMPORTANT:
It should be noted that each of the ex-Funds, merged into the current IPS, have different demands in relation to the eligibility requirements for the Widowhood Pension according to their specific regulations. For example, in some of the ex- Social Welfare Funds the disabled widow will be entitled to this benefit. The beneficiaries of pensions or benefits from the Social Security Institute living in Argentina or Sweden are dispensed with the submission of the bank records requirement requested for the payment of their benefits abroad. Beneficiaries can indicate this at the Consulate handling their application and request the sending of their benefit payment through Western Union.
