Request for Family Allowances for Chilean nationals residing overseas

What does it consist in?

The request for family allowance may be carried out by pensioners of any of the Ex Social Contingency funds, of the former Chilean Contingency System that is currently merged into the INP (Institute of Social Security Normalization). This benefit consists in an economic service awarded to persons mentioned hereinafter, living at their expense, dependant or constituent, and who fulfill the rest of the requirements established in the Law.

Where can it be requested?

At the Consulates of Chile overseas.

Who is it addressed to?

Chilean nationals residing overseas, who paid contributions exclusively to one of the Ex Social Contingency Funds of the former Chilean Contingency System, currently merged into the INP.

Grounds for granting family allowances

  • To one of the spouses, when disabled and dependant of the pensioner.
  • Children up to 18 years of age and adults up to 24 years of age, single, attending courses at regular or technical high school, specialized or higher, at State institutions or recognized by the latter. Disabled children, at any age.
  • Grandchildren and great-grandchildren, orphans of father or mother or abandoned by the latter at similar ages than the constituent children.
  • A widowed mother, at any age.
  • Relatives in ascending line (parents, grandparents, great-grandparents) older than 65 years of age.
  • Orphan or abandoned children and the ones fostered and maintained under equal conditions to the constituent children; disabled children at any age, being cared for by State institutions or recognized by the latter, with the exemption to the ones receiving state subsidy through the National Council for Minors.

Documentation

In the spouse's case:

  • 'Dependant Relative Request' Form
  • Photocopy of the Identity Card (legalized by the Consul)
  • Chilean Marriage Certificate or Consular Registration
  • Birth Certificate
  • Sworn Statement of income (to determine the sum of the Family allowance to be granted)
  • Photocopy of settlement of pension payment

In the child's case:

  • Chilean Birth Certificate

Result

Economic benefit awarded to a pensioner monthly.

Fees

Related to the issuing and legalization of the requested documents such as birth, marriage, studies certificates, etc.

Observations

Additional records may be requested during the application proceedings.
